ISO 15189 states that “Use of independent third party control materials should be considered, either as an alternative to, or in addition to, any control materials supplied by the reagent or instrument manufacturer”.

The quality control material should not be adapted to a given measurement procedure, instrument or specific reagents. SERO offer patient like materials which allow for comparison between different methods and instruments where the assigned values have been obtained from independent laboratories.
